This iconic scene was never edited, take a closer look and try not to gasp when you see the unexpected blooper…

The Beverly Hillbillies remains one of my all-time favorite shows, and it’s clear why: no offensive content, just pure, feel-good comedy. One of the most iconic episodes, where Granny mistakes a kangaroo for a “giant jackrabbit,” captures the quirky, wholesome charm that defined the series. Interestingly, this episode set a record as the most-watched half-hour sitcom of its time.

Despite being panned by critics as “strained and unfunny,” The Beverly Hillbillies captivated audiences, proving that simple family comedy could resonate deeply. Even classic shows like this had their share of goofs, like the Clampetts driving away from home with the ocean on the wrong side. Such mishaps only add to its charm.

From Max Baer Jr. as both Jethro and “Jethrine” to John Wayne’s bourbon-paid cameo, the show had memorable moments and behind-the-scenes quirks. By 1971, CBS canceled it during the “rural purge,” but it left a lasting impact. Today’s comedies could take a page from The Beverly Hillbillies, reminding us that sometimes, simple humor and genuine characters are all we need.
