Kevin Costner is OFFICIALLY OUT of the “Yellowstone” cast! 😳

Kevin Costner portrayed John Dutton, Montana’s governor, in the acclaimed series Yellowstone, beginning in 2018. The show gained popularity, but in June 2024, Costner confirmed in an Instagram post that he would not return for season 5B. After dedicating over a year to his personal film project, Horizon, he realized continuing with Yellowstone wasn’t feasible. Reflecting on the series, he shared his deep appreciation for the role and fans’ support.

Costner’s departure was rumored to stem from scheduling conflicts with Horizon, which reportedly frustrated show creator Taylor Sheridan. While fans expressed disappointment, Costner explained in interviews that delays and lack of prepared scripts were also factors in his decision. His Yellowstone co-star Cole Hauser, who portrays Rip Wheeler, praised Costner’s professionalism and described him as an inspiring role model on set.

Beyond his acting, Costner is a devoted father to seven children. He prioritizes family time, often bringing his younger children on set and fostering independence in their lives. Costner’s son Hayes has even joined him in Horizon. Despite his busy schedule, Costner continues to value fatherhood, making family life a priority.
