SAD NEWS – GEORGE W. BUSH

Former President George W. Bush recently drew attention for bouncing the ceremonial first pitch at the World Series opener, an incident his daughter Jenna Bush Hager attributed to his earlier back surgery. “It curved,” Jenna explained, “and he just had back surgery, so he probably injured himself.” A spokesperson confirmed Bush underwent lower back fusion surgery earlier this year but added, “President Bush isn’t one to make excuses.”

Bush, 77, was co-owner of the Texas Rangers, his favorite MLB team, from 1989 to 1998. He sold his stake after becoming Texas governor in 1994, later serving as U.S. president from 2001 to 2009. Despite no longer holding ties to the franchise, Bush remains an avid fan. Speaking with former Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter, now a TV analyst, Bush expressed confidence in the Rangers’ World Series prospects: “I think we’re gonna prevail in six games, but we’ll see.”

Known for his ceremonial pitches, Bush famously threw a strike in Game 3 of the 2001 World Series at Yankee Stadium, just weeks after 9/11, while wearing a bulletproof vest. He has since participated in other ceremonial pitches, including with his father, George H.W. Bush, in 2010 and 2017. Despite his recent setback, Bush remains a passionate baseball fan.
