First-term GOP Rep. Brandon Gill of Texas has called on the Trump administration to deport Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) to Somalia. “America would be a better place if @IlhanMN were deported back to Somalia,” Gill wrote on X, sharing a video where Omar appears to advise Somali immigrants, possibly undocumented, on avoiding federal immigration authorities.
Conservative influencer Greg Price shared the clip, alleging Omar was hosting workshops for illegal Somali immigrants to evade deportation. Supporters of Gill echoed his sentiments, with one user labeling Omar “anti-American” and another demanding her expulsion. Some accused her of committing federal crimes by aiding illegal immigrants.
Gill later stated, “We should have never let Ilhan Omar into our country,” with his spokesperson adding that Omar’s actions raise questions about her loyalty to the U.S. In the video, Omar advises undocumented Somalians on their rights when questioned by ICE, urging them not to disclose information without legal counsel.
This controversy unfolds as President Trump’s administration prioritizes mass deportations, focusing first on illegal migrant criminals. Border czar Tom Homan has warned of widespread arrests, especially in sanctuary cities, emphasizing that any undocumented individual is subject to removal. This marks the administration’s aggressive stance on immigration enforcement from day one.
